Parenting
The next step is to link the other layers to the Scene Scaler Null Object. The idea is for all the layers to follow the scale (and if we wanted them to, the position and rotation) of the Null Object.
In After Effects, this type of linking is called parenting. It’s a simple yet powerful way to make layers follow other layers. We’ll make the Null Object the parent of all the other layers, so wherever the Null Object goes, the other layers will follow.
Parent with Pickwhipping
- Select the topmost art layer, called GROW YOUR.
- Hold down the shift key.
- Select the bottommost art layer, BACKGROUND BURST.
