Fireworks CS4 uses the same text engine as Photoshop and Illustrator, which makes moving or copying between these applications fairly straightforward. Aside from the improved text handling between applications, working with type can be a fun and creative part of your design.

Fireworks has many features normally found in desktop publishing applications, such as kerning, spacing, color, leading, and baseline shift. You can edit text any time—even after you apply Live Filter effects. In this lesson, you’ll learn how to do the following:

  • Create both fixed width and auto-sizing text blocks

  • Edit the text properties
