Using Version Detection
e Flash Player plug-in is widely distributed,
but not everyone has the latest player version
installed. To make sure your audience has the
right player for viewing your Flash content,
use one of the three templates that create
HTML that performs version detection (see
the sidebar “About Version Detection”).
To detect the viewer’s Flash Player
version:
1. In an open Flash document, choose File >
Publish Settings.
e Publish Settings dialog appears;
choose a new publishing pro le, or leave
the current setting.
2. Click the Flash button (Mac) or tab
(Windows) in the dialog.

3. From the Player pop-up menu, choose
Flash Player version 4 or later
(Figure 18.49).
4. Click the HTML button (Mac) or tab
(Windows) in the dialog.
5. From the Template menu, choose Flash
Only, Flash HTTPS, or Flash Only–Allow
Full Screen.

6. Select the Detect Flash Version check box.
If you want to detect speci c revisions to
the Flash Player, enter them in the  elds
for minor and incremental revisions
(Figure 18.50).
7. To con rm your settings, click OK.
When you publish a document using
version detection, Flash creates an HTML
le that displays the SWF  le in a browser
