The Classroom in a Book CD-ROM contains all the lesson files you need to complete the exercises in this book. These instructions describe how to check whether the CD-ROM drive is mounted, how to mount the CD-ROM drive (if necessary), and how to copy the sample files from the CD-ROM.
The process is different depending on whether the CD-ROM drive is local or remote:
If you have a CD-ROM drive connected to your UNIX workstation, you can mount the CD locally. (To mount a CD-ROM drive, you must know your system’s root password.) You can then copy the sample files to your machine’s hard disk or to your home directory. This appendix contains instructions for doing this.
