The Portable Document Format (PDF) is the most common way to share your finished creations. Adobe Acrobat Reader is the free application that can open a PDF. Those who want to edit PDFs or add extra functionality to them can use Adobe Acrobat Pro, the powerful sibling to Reader. If you don’t know if you have Acrobat Reader, you can open a PDF in a web browser and use the built in PDF reader.
The advantage of sharing a document as an Acrobat PDF rather than an Illustrator document is that PDFs retains the layout and text formatting of the application without the recipient needing to have the author’s applications or fonts.
