Chapter 8. Advanced Find/Change with Styles
ONE OF THE CHALLENGES designers and long document producers face once they know how to build smart, efficient styles is how to apply those styles with equal intelligence and efficiency. Selecting dozens—or possibly hundreds—of paragraphs and clicking style names in the panels for each is not only repetitive, it’s unreliable. People, especially busy people, miss things, but computers are far less likely to. The whole point with styles is to reduce tedious work and improve consistency. All machine-based tasks should be exploited to speed up this type of work, and InDesign’s Find/Change feature is a style-savvy powerhouse that can reduce time and errors when formatting large amounts of text.
