7 Extending Lightroom

I’m not here to pit Lightroom Classic against Lightroom desktop, because in truth I end up using both for various situations. That said, one of the reasons photographers have stuck with Lightroom Classic is its plug-in architecture, which allows other apps to tie into it. If you want to use a different tool to deal with digital noise or to sharpen an image beyond what Lightroom offers, you can send the photo to that tool, make edits, and return the edited version back to your library.

Of course, the app you’re most likely to use outside of Lightroom Classic (or Lightroom desktop, to bring that back into the conversation) is Photoshop. Being able to round-trip a photo to Photoshop (or Photoshop for iPad on mobile) is great ...
