Adding The Head
At this stage, the fan of leaves was feeling rather done, but lacked a background. A stylistic head was the next element to tackle. I opened it in Photoshop and dragged it into the book cover document using the Move tool. A problem developed after scaling the head layer to an appropriate size and moving it to the bottom of the Layers stack. All the leaf Smart Object layers ended up looking like they were printed on top of the head because they were all set to use the Multiply blending mode (Figure 15.157). Since the Multiply mode was needed to cause the leaves to print on top of each other, instead of obscuring each other, I selected all the leaf Smart Object layers and chose Layer > Smart Objects > Group into New Smart Object ...
