Step 4—Color Correction

Color correction is the first adjustment I apply because it relies on being able to measure the color from the original, unadulterated image. (Learn how to color correct in Chapter 8, Color Correction.) Any color or tonal adjustments that are applied before color correction is performed can only make the results of the correction less effective. Performing color correction will also change the contrast of the image, so it makes sense to do it before trying to adjust the overall contrast of the image (Figures 17.15 and 17.16).
