Chapter 9. Layers, Selections and Masking
For a lot of people the real fun starts when you can use Photoshop to swap parts of one photograph with another and make composite photographs using different image elements. This chapter explains the different tools that can be used making composites as well as the intricacies of working with the Layers panel, Channels and the pen tool. But to begin with, let us focus on some of the basic principles of how to make a selection and the interrelationship between selections, alpha channels, masks and the Quick Mask mode.
