9. Scanning and Repairing Photographs
There is no time like the present when it comes to preserving photographs or any other media. That’s because they’re not getting any younger—your photographs are aging, and the older they get the less information that can be recovered from the image. Once the photograph has been scanned and stored in the computer, you have stopped the aging process and, as you will learn in this chapter, you can reverse most of the damage done by time and mishandling.
