In Chapter 1, I explain the differences between Lightroom Classic and the newer Lightroom ecosystem that is based on cloud storage, with the goal of helping you choose the right product for your needs. I still believe that Lightroom Classic offers the best combination of editing power, library management, and output options for the price, which makes it the path I recommend for most people. That said, there’s a lot to like about the new cloud-based Lightroom, and it makes a lot of sense for Lightroom Classic users to learn its capabilities and how the two programs can be used together. There may even come a day where you find that the new Lightroom ecosystem has all the features you want and you switch over to it completely.
