The Source Monitor
There’s almost always more footage shot than what your video requires, and the Source Monitor is a great place to trim the fat in broad strokes.
To start, double-click a video clip in the Project panel to open it in the Source Monitor.
Note: Now that we’re using multiple panels, take note of which one is active. You can tell a panel is active by the blue highlight around the panel.
Previewing
Press the spacebar to play your video. Press it again to stop. To speed through footage, I like to visualize a throttle on a ship. Press L to shift your throttle forward slightly, and play your video at regular speed. Press it again ...
