Chapter 10. Adding Effects to Enhance User Experience

HTML is boring. Regardless of what you might think, every web surfer, including you, wants to be dazzled by your site, but finding the right balance of eye candy and interactivity is the trick. When discussing effects and their usefulness, I'm often reminded of the Shakespearean line, "All that glitters is not gold." It's true; just because you can add an effect doesn't mean you should. Remember the <blink> tag anyone? The most important thing to ask is this: "Are my effects enhancing the user experience?" Many times the answer is actually, "Yes."
