This chapter addresses the latest developments in ceramic materials for use in oxygen transport membranes. Oxygen production is a multibillion dollar business with applications in clean energy, petrochemicals and metallurgical processes. The chapter describes the transport mechanisms involved and possible integration of these membranes in oxyfuel coal combustion and coal gasification.
