Advanced technologies for syngas and hydrogen (H2) production from fossil-fuel feedstocks in power plants

Abstract:
This chapter is devoted to production of hydrogen from fossil primary fuels, in particular natural gas and coal. It describes the basic processes commonly adopted, presents in detail the components that accomplish them, and finally reports the mass and thermal balances of two relevant cases. Expected advancements in the technology and application of techniques to remove carbon dioxide for long-term sequestration are also discussed.
