6.6. Problems and prospects in the study of broadband albedo

Although the studies in albedo inversion algorithms and surface albedo products have achieved great success, some problems still exist. Not only the accuracy, temporal resolution, and data integrity of albedo product should to be further enhanced but also the research on extreme surfaces, e.g., snow/ice, ocean, and mountain, is in urgent need, and the validation work on albedo product should be pushed forward to longer and larger extend.

The frequently used albedo inversion algorithm based on the kernel-driven bidirectional reflectance model mainly applies to vegetation. There lacks appropriate albedo-estimation model in many other land cover types. For example, in high-latitude areas, ...
