Abstract

This chapter reports on the development of rechargeable aluminum-ion batteries. The possible concept of a rechargeable aluminum/aluminum-ion battery based on a low-cost, earth-abundant Al anode, ionic liquid EMImCl:AlCl3 (1-ethyl-3-methyl imidazolium chloroaluminate) electrolytes, and an MnO2 cathode has been proposed.
