Future trends for solar energy use in nearly zero energy buildings

Abstract

Increased energy demand and associated greenhouse gas emissions at the global level are directly related to population growth and economic development. To reduce the impact on climate change of the energy consumption in the built environment (responsible for up to 40% in developed countries) sustained efforts are being made to reduce demand through energy efficiency measures and to implement renewable energy systems aiming at the nearly or net zero energy building.
