Defining Coaching Frameworks, Techniques, and Tools
The terms coaching “frameworks, techniques, tools” have been used interchangeably in the literature on executive coaching. For the purposes of this chapter we define a coaching “tool” as a specific assessment instrument with measurement properties, a coaching “technique” as a specific interchange process between the coach and client used to facilitate agreed-on coaching goals, and a “framework” as a conceptual model that may be used by a coach in guiding a coaching discussion or in suggesting specific activities for a unique coaching purpose.
