Chapter 17. Output

Finally.

The beginning of this book likened your project and compositions to a musical score. Now that you’ve written and rehearsed that score, it’s time to put on the show!

In your case, that show is a comp rendered and exported to a particular format. You can export all or part of a comp to a multitude of formats—each one containing an extensive number of variable settings. The number of choices can be daunting.

But with few exceptions, the procedures to export any format are essentially the same: add the comp to the Render Queue and specify the Render Settings and one or more Output Modules.

The typical export option is a movie file, saved in a format tailored for a particular playback device or medium: videotape, DVD, Blu-Ray ...
