The general goal of DW/BI systems development is to automate and optimize data-based decision support for our customers. In fact, automation of routine processes is a primary goal of most systems and application development. Such automation makes end users’ jobs easier, more reliable, more repeatable, and faster. Unfortunately, like the fabled cobbler’s children, we often don’t automate our own work to gain the same benefits. DW/BI developers don’t typically make the time or have the wherewithal to automate the routine processes that make up a large percentage of their work.
