Object Identification Using XPath

XPath is XML path language based on a tree representation of the XML document. It is a query language for selecting nodes from XML document. It provides the ability to navigate around the tree by selecting nodes by using a variety of criteria.

With QTP 11, HP has provided the feature to locate GUI objects based on their XPath definition. UFT learns XPath definition automatically while learning an object. It as well provides the flexibility to the user to define custom XPath expressions for identifying objects in UI.
