Why We Test and What Tests to Run

EDW faces a stiff challenge in even deciding what to test because with more than 40 test types available and hundreds of data warehouse components needing validation, executing every possible test will be financially infeasible. Agile EDW teams develop feasible DW/BI QA plans by combining top-down and bottom-up planning. Top-down planning examines six dimensions of testing and then employs a 2×2 matrix that intersects the two types of conclusions tests can support with the two types of audiences to which a test can speak.
