Define the Goal

A client once asked me for input as they were planning to update a course that was a considerable part of their new hire orientation. The company was very focused on quality, and all new hires attended this one-day class on quality. The course contained a wealth of information on the emergence of the quality movement, its roots in Japanese manufacturing practices, and the company’s commitment to quality.

It was unclear what the new hire was supposed to do with this information, though, so I asked.
