As we have noted throughout this book, the synthesis of Agile and Innovation can readily become the basis for a fundamental transformation of your organization. In other words, this synthesis offers the promise of a genuine revolution in how you operate. Fulfilling that promise, however, will require quite strong leadership and carefully crafted actions.
10 (Easy) Steps
In the event that you have never imagined yourself as the leader of a revolution, we'd like to offer some guidelines that we hope will enable you to succeed in this new and somewhat unconventional role. Here, then, are the 10 easy steps of revolutionary leadership.
- Educate yourself: Know why this transformation must happen and how to achieve it. Identify the goals and the most efficient means of achieving them without compromise. Appreciate and respect a diversity of tactics and supporters. The revolution must be directed toward making things better. This creates a positive vector and defines a winning position. After all, will anyone argue that we need to be less efficient, less productive, or less innovative?
