Introduction

Data is produced, collected, and shared more than ever by means of digital technologies. The growing desire for big data seems endless and unstoppable. We are encouraged to rely on data to the point that our lives and bodies are governed and regulated by it. We bestow our belief in (numeric) data. We trust it and think that it can help us make the “right” decisions and predict whether something will occur or not – especially if we have access to enough data. The logic for this? The more, the better.
