Real productivity

Is your organization truly productive? Real productivity has little to do with how hard the staff works, how many hours they put in, or even how much output they produce. Real productivity is measured by the business value that their work generates for the organization, which can be quantified through primary and secondary business-value outcomes.

Primary business-value outcomes

Primary business-value outcomes directly relate to the core function of the organization. For private sector organizations, where the core function is generally increasing the bottom line, primary business value can be measured by:

  • increased revenue
  • increased profits (or profit margins)
  • reduced overheads.
