ESVP

Description and Rationale

ESVP (short for Explorer, Shopper, Vacationer, or Prisoner) helps the retrospective leader understand people’s attitudes toward the retrospective. It’s particularly useful if you’re not a regular team member in the facilitator role. Use it when you suspect some participants haven’t attended willingly. Since the responses are collected anonymously, it encourages honest responses and leads to collaboratively creating working agreements for the retrospective.

Time Needed

10–20 minutes, depending on the size of the group and whether the setting is in-person or remote.
