Abstract

As IoT represents an omnipotent interconnection of smart objects, accomplishing compatibility among them poses a challenge for efficient and reliable communication. IoT is a blend of multiple technologies, protocols, devices, and standards. Also, the data generated from smart objects differ in their data formats and ontologies. IoT is a dynamic network requiring changes now and then. For this, agile methodologies are the best match for the IoT ecosystem ruling over the globe. Keeping in view the dynamic requirements of the pervasive network, we comprehend the agile methodologies for incremental and rapid production of products with feedback and update mechanisms. The study emphasizes on the importance of agile methodology in IoT. We highlight the functionalities of the AGILE-IoT project funded by the European Union. The five pilots set by the AGILE-IoT to actualize the agility in Smart domains by introducing a common gateway are taken into account. To achieve interoperability among the IoT components, several frameworks come into the limelight like BIG-IoT, VICINITY, BIotiope, and INTER-IoT. In our study, we have considered the INTER-IoT framework as it supports semantic, syntactic, functional, device, middleware, and network-level interoperability.
