12.1 Industrial AI
Industrial AI (IAI) is the application of AI to industrial use cases like the movement and storage of goods, supply chain management, advanced analytics, and automation and robotics in manufacturing. It is often differentiated from other types of AI because it focuses on the application of AI technologies, not the development of human-like systems.
IAI is especially appropriate for process plants because the huge amount of data generated today and the quickly changing circumstances are too complex for manual or even digital management (Precognize, 2022).
