2.1 AlphaGo: The Success
AlphaGo, now owned by Google DeepMind, is a computer program that plays the boardgame Go. Go is a two-player game. The board is made up of a grid that comprises 19 horizontal lines and 19 vertical lines. The two players take turns to place pieces on the board. One piece is placed per turn on one of the unoccupied positions in the 19 × 19 grid. The goal is to occupy more territory than the opponent at the end of the game.
