Abstract

This chapter describes the relationship between airports and airlines with a specific focus on airports in typical tourism regions and the changes induced by the rise of low-cost carriers on the respective markets. Based on a discussion of objectives of the several entities along the value chain and an analysis of airline route choice, an airport’s options for influencing airline decisions are presented.
