The Role of Niche Aviation Operations as Tourist Attractions

Abstract

This chapter seeks to highlight the important relationship between tourism and niche aviation operations. The focus will be on four key areas of tourism that are serviced by niche aviation operations: (1) adventure tourism, (2) scenic tourism, (3) heritage tourism, and (4) space tourism. The nature of novelty and memorable tourist experiences will be outlined and related to why niche aviation operations have become an important part of the tourism industry.
