You were expecting your guest to arrive at 4 p.m. to check in and it’s now 5 p.m. You send a message to her through the Airbnb app asking her to notify you 30 minutes prior to her arrival so you can meet her to check her in. You leave, awaiting her message 30 minutes away.
Meanwhile, your guest’s delayed international flight arrives four hours late. She grabs her luggage late, gets in the taxi late, and arrives at your property late. In the mad rush to get out of the airport, she forgets to purchase a SIM card to have a data plan in the new country. And it’s raining.
As she drags her now rain-soaked luggage to the porch, she realizes she doesn’t have a way to reach you. Cold, wet, and desperate, she knocks on the neighbor’s door. After some awkward conversation, she finally has access to Wi-Fi and messages you. Then she waits a little more before you finally arrive to let her in.
