INTRODUCTION
Most aviation technicians devote a portion of their time to ground-handling and taxiing aircraft. The complexity of today’s aircraft and accompanying ground-support equipment creates an expensive and dangerous work environment. The purpose of this chapter is to give you information on the procedures, techniques, and safety precautions involved in handling and servicing aircraft on the ground. Because of the many different types of aircraft and aircraft operations, it is possible to provide only general information and standard practices. For the specific operations applying to a particular aircraft, the technician should consult the aircraft’s service manual.
