The last few years have seen the rise of a new type of Web application: the mashup. Mashups are not new applications per se. Rather, they aggregate the data and functionality of several different services and “mash” them together. The result is a new way of viewing or correlating data. A good example of a mashup is HousingMaps.com. This Web site takes the apartment listings on Craigslist and maps them onto an interactive landscape using Google Maps.
