Chapter 11: Bioinformatics workflow management systems

Abstract

In the discipline of bioinformatics, a flow of work, or a sequence of computational or analytical tasks, is managed by a bioinformatics workflow management system, which is a subtype of a workflow automation system. This type of system is used to construct and manage the flow of work. There are numerous different work process situations available at this time. Some of them have been developed with the intention that scholars in a variety of subjects, such as cosmology and geology, will be able to make use of them as frameworks for logical work processes. Workflow frameworks such as Galaxy, GenePattern, KNIME, LINCS Tools, image analysis, and NextFlow are discussed in this chapter. ...
