Chapter 8: Drug informatics
Abstract
Drug informatics is a new area of research that focuses on the development and modernization of drug discoveries by means of diverse bioinformatics fields. Bioinformatic analysis can speed up the process of finding drug targets, screening, and refining drug candidates, describing drug side effects, and predicting drug resistance. High-throughput data such as genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic, epigenetic, and ribosomal profiling information have substantially contributed to mechanism-based drug discovery, development, and repurposing. Drug informatics is a revolutionary approach to the development of new pharmaceuticals based on objective knowledge gleaned from biological research. Drug design ...
