ONVZ, annual report The title of the report translates into a year and

a life. “It describes a year in the history of a Dutch health insurance

company and the whole life of a man. Photographer Bertien van Manen

went on a trip to France with the man we selected to be portrayed

in the report. He fit the description of average schooling, average income,

average weight/looks and so on. The photographer and the victim

were locked up together in a summerhouse for two weeks. Bertien

managed to take a series of very personal photographs of this man

who, of course, turned out to be anything but average.” Louwé produced

this piece in collaboration with Kessels Kramer.

Harmine Louwé’s work manages the rare feat

who suddenly starts throwing paper planes at you.

Over the years she has worked as a graphic ghostwriter

on some of the most visually advanced advertising

campaigns around. But her heart belongs

to the more cultural, ambitious work she produces

under her own name.
