Forget Skipping Pebbles; Throw a Boulder!

There are two kinds of people in this world: ocean lovers and lake lovers. If you stop and think about yourself, you likely fall into one of those camps and know people who fall into the other. Granted, there is nothing wrong with loving both of them.

Do you love going to the beach and watching the waves crash? Or do you prefer to listen to the lap of water against a wooded shoreline of a lake?

It’s important to get outside and take in as much nature as possible. It might not help you achieve all your dreams, but it’ll certainly make you happier. You’d be amazed at how happy a good dose of fresh air can make you.

An ocean is always in motion; it never stops. The waves ebb and flow every day and night. A lake or pond is still most of the time.

Think about the world around you right now. There are plenty of things that feel like the ocean. No matter what you do, you can’t seem to make even a ripple in it. The waves keep coming and going, and no matter how hard you try to contain them, you can’t.

But, if you are going to make changes, then you must find the calm bits of the world that you can disturb for your own benefit.

Being a dad means I’ve had the pleasure of teaching my children how to skip rocks. You have done this, right? Pick up the flattest, smoothest rock and with a sideways flick of your wrist, release it and watch as it magically skips across the water before sinking into the drink forever.
