How to Do a Mass and Energy Balance

Professional engineers usually produce their mass and energy balances in MS Excel. My approach, as described in this chapter, allows these spreadsheets to be easily checked and readily modified, to allow the engineer to carry out sensitivity analysis for different scenarios across the design envelope.
