Chapter 9. The Power Is in the Trim
Trimming is at the heart of editing. It’s in the refining of clips’ In and Out points and where they meet with other clips that a group of clips on a sequence becomes a coherent edit. Although there is no right or wrong way to trim, from an aesthetic point of view, there are tools and techniques for trimming that can allow you to work quickly and efficiently while at the same time allowing you to express whatever aesthetic you want.
In previous chapters we discussed some essential editing techniques. In this chapter we’ll go further and talk about more advanced ways to trim clips. We’ll show you the mechanics of using Adobe Premiere Pro’s versatile trim tools so that you can get the most out of your edit.
