I would like to start by looking at how Passive House can help to deliver a renewable-energy revolution.
Passive House makes it possible to reduce energy demand by up to 90% compared to ordinary buildings. Reducing energy use, mainly in the building and transport sectors, is a key component of the energy revolution that is happening in Germany and Austria – both countries appear to be on target to run their economies on 100% renewable energy by 2050. Renewable energy can meet the summer energy needs of buildings in most climates but without closing the “winter gap” between demand and supply, the energy revolution can only be a dream.
