CHAPTER 2 Non Linear Wave Shaping

2.1 INTRODUCTION

We studied in chapter 1 on linear wave shaping that non sinusoidal waveforms are transmitted through differentiator and integrator for altering their wave shapes. In this chapter some aspects of non linear wave shaping like clipping and clamping are taken up.

The clipper circuits are used to remove the unwanted portion of the waveform while clamper circuits are used to add (or) restore dc level to a signal. The clippers are also called slicers (or) voltage limiters or amplitude selectors while the clampers are also called dc restorer dc reinserter.

Non linear wave shaping circuits may be classified as clipping circuits and clamping circuits may be single level clipper (or) two level clippers. ...
