6. All This Useless Beauty
There are a couple of projects I did a while back that are not really useful. In fact, they’re probably a bit stupid. But for some reason, they fascinate people. Perhaps because we are living in a world that seems to celebrate the banal and mundane, we are especially captivated by the bizarre. Perhaps we simply need more stupid, fun things in life—things that do nothing but celebrate being utterly useless. Things that remind us of what it was like to play when we were kids. Or perhaps people are attracted to these projects because they mess with corporate culture and well-known icons—and that’s got to be good.
