It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
8Short‐Circuit Currents
8.1 Introduction
In addition to load flow calculations, short‐circuit current calculations are among the basic investigations in the planning of a three‐phase network. Short‐circuit current calculation examines the following network planning parameters:
- Determination of the dynamic and thermal stress of the equipment
- Design and adjustment of the mains protection
- Calculation of the required opening and breaking capacity of the circuit‐breakers
- Assessment of the type of neutral point treatment
- Check of the permissible grounding and contact voltages
