Description and Purpose

Issue analysis aids the strategic and competitive intelligence (CI) efforts of companies by helping them anticipate changes in their external environments and to become more proactive in shaping it through their influence on public policy (PP). It is also a useful technique for a company to use to position itself to deal with changes in public policy. The opinions of stakeholders can affect corporate decisions related to consumer protection, environmental protection, financing options, health and safety, marketing, operating standards, product packaging and placement, and site location, among others.
