Abstract

NodeXL is an Excel template that supports social network analysis and visualization in a spreadsheet environment. This chapter introduced the basics of NodeXL using a simple corporate connection network called the ABCD network. The spreadsheet includes an Edges worksheet that contains a row for each edge and a Vertices worksheet that contains a row for each vertex. The NodeXL ribbon and graph pane tools provide access to NodeXL features, such as the ability to change from an undirected to a directed network. Vertices can be arranged on the graph using a number of automatic layouts (e.g., Fruchterman-Reingold) or can be manually positioned and fixed into place if desired. Best practices ...
