Tools for Balancing
We have spoken at some length about the act of balancing games. In order to round off this chapter, we are now going to cover some of the techniques that the game designer can use to actually perform this balancing. We will also be exploring some new ideas for balancing games that, even though they are not currently in use, might be useful in the future.
It is beyond the scope of this chapter to go into more than cursory details of these techniques. In some cases, however, they are adequately documented in other places and repeating that information here would be superfluous. Where this is the case, we will attempt to provide pointers to more information on the subject in the appendixes.
